Help! I am currently lost in the depths of the New York Public Library's byzantine book delivery system, which seems modeled (imperfectly) after purgatory. After standing in many lines, in many rooms, and waiting for my paginated wonder to light up the "now delivering" screen, I finally won a book .... that I never wanted to read. ugh.

This is the life of a lowly law journal staff editor, where dusty covers and obscure pages carry some -- but fleeting -- import. As a second year (2L), I have contributed to American legal scholarship by verifying that Professors aren't totally lying in their obscure footnote citations.

...and they usually are.

You would think that I would forsake this entire enterprise, turn in my library card, and unite would-be source mongers into an elaborate worldwide strike, bringing the legal community to its knees. Buuut this year's board begged a little, and then chipped in an academic credit to sweeten the pot. So I'm here to stay!

Flattery works on this little proletarian! At least now you know why I will be working at a law firm...
